Hounslow’s Labour administration gives council tenants the security and stability they need to thrive. From now on, Hounslow Council will offer secure lifetime tenancies for all its council tenants.
The current five-year flexible tenancies were not deemed to provide sufficient security for young families or those looking to develop careers or businesses within the borough. This was overwhelmingly supported by those residents who took part in the Council’s consultation.
The decision will also reduce the financial and bureaucratic burden placed on housing officers, while giving social housing tenants the chance to put down roots, establishing family and job security.
This decision reflects Hounslow Labour’s mission to make this borough a place for families to thrive.
Councillor Sue Sampson, Cabinet Member for Housing Management and Homelessness at Hounslow Council said:
“The switch will provide peace of mind to many of our residents, while reducing legal complexities, making the process smoother for both tenants and housing officers.”
